First Hunt of the Season
December 07, 2014 by Karyn Tom
Our first hunt in November this year turned out to be a success, even though the weather was not the best! We had three seasoned hunters join us, a father and son team from East Texas, Kenneth and Ryan, and Chris Cooper from Plaino, Texas. These gentleman have been hunting at the Tom Ranch for many years.
They arrived to find very wet and cold conditions, but that didn't stop them from getting out there in the blinds to do some hunting. They got great video of deer that they reviewed after each hunt and discussed with our guides, J.Pat Tom and Kenton Krueger. All three were able to harvest really nice bucks.
Kenneth got a great 13 point that scored 145 B&C, while son, Ryan took his own 8 point management buck. Chris harvested a 8 point with a drop tine that scored 130 B&C.
They had a great 4 days with us, and got to see a lot of deer and other wildlife during their stay. As always, we did a lot of eating and visiting between the hunts, and we enjoyed getting to see these guys that have become "regulars" here at the Tom Ranch each hunting season. Looking forward to seeing what they will get next year!
